SUMMARY:The Evolving Tradition of Old-Time Music
DESCRIPTION:Join the South Coastal Library in Bethany Beach for a free and fun old time music/ folk concert! You will learn about the origin and evolution of "Old-Time" music with father-son duo\, Ken and & Brad Kolodner. The term "Old Time" has been used to describe "string band" music since the 1920s\, but this style of music has a much longer history. The style originated by fusing the traditional music of the British Isles and Africa\, and later incorporating elements of Blues\, Ragtime\, and Bluegrass. Performing on clawhammer banjo\, gourd banjo\, hammered mbira\, twin fiddles\, hammered dulcimer\, guitar\, and vocals\, this dynamic Baltimore-based father-son team\, the Kolodners\, are leaders in maintaining this tradition true to its roots\, but also contributing to its evolution.
