Tiny Art Contest at South Coastal Library

Join us for our 2nd Annual Tiny Art Contest! Unleash your creative side and transform a tiny 4"x4" canvas into your own little masterpiece! Artwork will be displayed in the library through the months of January and February 2024 with accompanying artist's first name and age category.

All art materials and entry form provided in a take-home kit for registered artists. Kits contain canvas, entry form, and either acrylic paints/brushes (ages 8+) OR paint markers (non-toxic for ages 6-8.) Additional paint pen colors will be available.

(Schedule an appointment in our study room to use our paint pens, or use your library card to borrow an additional 6 colors for 1 week.)

There is no theme, and you may use your own materials to decorate the canvas if you prefer. Brushes and minimally-used paint pens will need to be returned to the library. Artists may also use their own art supplies to decorate their canvas.

Professional artists may not register for this contest.

IMPORTANT: If you register and decide not to participate, please let library staff know and return complete art kit to the library so someone else may participate!

Age divisions:

Adults (18+)
Teens (Ages 13-17)
Preteens (Ages 9 to 12)
Children (Ages 6 - 

Timeline:

Oct. 10, 2023 @ 10 am: Registration begins.

Nov. 1, 2023 @ 10 am: Kit pickup for registered artists begins.

Dec. 30, 2023 Before 3 pm: Final day for artists to bring their artwork and completed entry form to the library.

Jan. 4, 2024: Artwork on display without nametags.

Jan. 5 - 20: Local professional artists judge show & library patrons vote for People's Choice Awards.

Jan. 24 (Wed.) @ 5:30 - 6:30 pm: Winners Revealed & Prizes Awarded! (Name tags accompany artwork.)

Feb. 29 @ 10 am: Artists can begin picking up their artwork.
