About Us
The Delaware Center for the Inland Bays is a nationally recognized nonprofit dedicated to the protection, restoration, and stewardship of Delaware’s three Inland Bays—Rehoboth Bay, Indian River Bay, and Little Assawoman Bay. Established as part of the National Estuary Program, the Center works collaboratively with communities, scientists, and partners to preserve these vital coastal ecosystems for future generations.
Through a science-based and community-driven approach, the Center leads efforts in habitat restoration, water quality monitoring, and environmental research. Its initiatives include restoring wetlands and oyster populations, improving watershed health, and advancing nature-based solutions that enhance resilience to climate change.
Education and outreach are central to the Center’s mission. The organization offers year-round public programs, volunteer opportunities, and participatory science projects that empower individuals of all ages to connect with and care for the Inland Bays. From guided nature walks and workshops to large-scale community events, the Center fosters environmental awareness and encourages hands-on stewardship.
By blending science, education, and community engagement, the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays is helping to ensure that Delaware’s treasured coastal ecosystems remain healthy, vibrant, and accessible for generations to come.
