The Declaration of Independence: A Historical Overview
Soon the country will be celebrating the 250th anniversary of the writing and adoption of the Declaration of Independence. This talk, presented by Daniel Pritchett and hosted by the South Coastal Library in Bethany Beach, will look back at the events that led to the creation of the "birth certificate" of the United States, and examine its basic ideas and ideals. Daniel will recall how within a few decades this document came very close to being forgotten and thrown into the ash can of history, until it was rescued from oblivion to become the paper that continues to inspire people all over the world.
