Key objective of the event - To clean up trash from Delaware's river, bay and ocean shorelines, as well as wetland and watershed wildlife areas; also an important outreach event to promote proper trash disposal and recycling.
Participants: Volunteers of all ages including civic organizations, youth groups, businesses, families and individuals; media invited.
What makes this event special, unique or important? The Delaware Coastal Cleanup is DNREC's largest volunteer event of the year. Last year, 1,115 volunteers gathered 2.7 tons of trash from 42 sites statewide.
