Books We Love: The Correspondent
Join Dickens Parlour Theatre for a thoughtful and inspiring conversation around this year’s breakout novel, The Correspondent by Virginia Evans.
Each morning at half past ten, Sybil Van Antwerp sits down to write letters—small, intentional acts that quietly reveal a life shaped by love, loss, reflection, and connection. Through her correspondence, we discover how the seemingly ordinary ritual of letter writing becomes a powerful path toward forgiveness, meaning, and transcendence.
Adding to its charm, Evans sets the story along the East Coast, with familiar places like Annapolis and the DC area woven throughout. Sybil herself calls Annapolis home—a setting that feels especially close to many of us here in coastal Delaware.
Following our discussion, you’re invited to stay for a guided letter-writing experience—an opportunity to slow down, reflect, and put pen to paper in your own meaningful way.
Hosted by Becky Gaffney, Managing Director of Dickens Parlour Theatre, and Kolinda Scialabba, Founder of Thrive 302.
