Jazz performers include:
Joe Baione (4:00 p.m.)
Jazzy Blu (5:15 p.m.)
Jazzy Blu is one of the leading jazz and R&B bands in the Washington metropolitan area. The band produces the melodic sounds of smooth jazz, neo-soul, and R&B, while blending the influences of funk, jazz, R&B, neo-soul, blues, rock, and alternative music. They create a groove-filled emotional roller coaster that takes you through an array of themes, moods, and experiences.
Mike Casey (6:45 p.m.)
Featured in both Amazon + Spotify’s “Best Jazz of 2022,” Mike Casey & his trio incorporate ingredients of funk, R&B, hip hop & global rhythms into their own definition of cinematic jazz fusion with just sax, bass, & drums.
This trio demands the audiences’ attention — whether bringing down the house with distinct original music or captivating listeners with genre-bending re-imaginations of songs by Soundgarden, Queen, Daniel Caesar, & H.E.R. In 2020, the trio was 1 of 5 international finalists in the largest ensemble based competition in jazz — DC Jazz Festival’s “DC Jazz Prix.”
Passing 25 million streams, Mike’s had support from The Huffington Post, BBC, NPR’s Morning Edition & Jazz Night in America, Forbes, Downbeat, Jazziz, as the cover of Spotify’s “State of Jazz,” Radio France, Jazz FM, Bandcamp, NPO, NTS, Dublab, Sirius XM, icon Sonny Rollins’s social media (pioneer of the sax/bass/drums format) & more.
Notable shows include the Kennedy Center, World Cafe Live, BRIC Jazz Fest, Yale, Side Door Jazz Club, Philadelphia Museum of Art + some of Europe’s top jazz venues: Jamboree, Le Jam, Auditori Nacional, & Jimmy Glass.
