Beginners Crochet Series at South Coastal Library
Back again by popular demand! Are you interested in learning how to crochet? If so, then join South Coastal Library for a free three-day introductory class to crocheting taught by Mary Beth Leonard.
In part one, you'll discuss a brief history of the craft, introduce you to the basic tools and materials needed to crochet, and learn basic techniques and tips to start you on your journey. Taking the steps you learn together, you will then start making a basic crocheting project (holiday dishcloth and/or placemat), which will incorporate three main crochet stitches.
In class two, you will learn more about the variety of crochet stitches and how to read crochet patterns and charts while working on our projects.
Finally, in the last class you will finish your projects and discover additional crocheting resources available to you. All materials are provided. Ages 18+.
It is recommended that you bring a crochet hook if you have one (size J recommended). If not, the library has crochet hooks you may borrow for the class and then return to the library at the end of the series. If you have specific yarn you wish to use, you may bring it, or we can supply you with some. Yarn must be cotton material for best results. They have many colors to choose from!
Registration is required and patrons must intend to participate in it in all three classes. Registering once signs you up for the entire series. In efforts to reach as many people as possible, patrons who took this class before (November 2024) may not register again for this class.
