Workshop participants will get a crash course on the fundamentals of the centuries-old form of micro poetry known as Haiku, and create a haiku rock (like kindness rocks but with haiku instead!) to place in our Haiku Garden or take home. Led by Babs McGrory, creator of Pi-ku Poetry (Bite Sized Poems to Help Fight Hunger). All workshop materials will be provided. This event takes place outdoors with social distancing. Participants must bring their own chair and wear a mask.
Poetic works by BLW "Babs" McGrory have appeared in "The Golden Haiku Contest," "The Ekphrastic Review," and "Auroras & Blossoms Journal," and many more. Founder of National Beat Poetry Day, she is a past Beat Poet Laureate of Delaware, and the creator of Pi(e)-ku Poetry - Bite-sized Poems to Help Fight Hunger.
She is also host of the Vowel Mouth Poetry Podcast. Her hand-painted artwork has been featured in a number of businesses and private residences, and her poetry-art has been displayed at the Corbin Studio & Gallery, the Worcester County Library, and Delaware Fun-A-Day. Currently, she is on a grassroots mission to build a multi-faceted collective of poets in the southern-most communities of Delaware & North Ocean City.
