Not Just the Facts: Writing Memoir for Beginners
While people often rely on facts to tell the story of their life, where they were born, how many siblings they had, what jobs they worked, even their accomplishments. it's in the details that lives are truly lived and remembered. This class will teach participants how to begin telling their life story, or that of someone close (a parent, sibling, spouse) by using specific sensory details that evoke emotion rather than telling (listing the facts). Instructor and author, Maribeth Fischer, founded the Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild (RBWG) in 2005, where she currently serves as Executive Director. She has taught fiction and nonfiction at the undergraduate and graduate level for over 15 years. She has taught writing workshops for numerous groups of both writers and non-writers, she believes everyone has a story worth telling and currently teaches a range of classes for the RBWG, everything from "How to Get Started Writing" to "Essential Tools of Writing" to Advanced novel writing. Nonmembers of Bayside Resort Golf Club may register within 7 days of the class. Registration fees are nonrefundable.
