Red Sky Dawn was formed in 2019. John Judge, DVJ & Bill Mojica collectively left a prior cover band to form what is now Red Sky Dawn. Fred Helms was an amazing pick-up to help craft the sounds & trajectory of what is Red Sky Dawn. The culmination of experience, expertise in our craft as well as intense passion for LIVE (never tracked) music, put each of us in the right place, right time. We are blessed to be the four-some known as Red Sky Dawn. “DVJ” (Dawn Van Jones) – Lead Vocals Dawn has been in the local cover band scene since 2004 (Southern Comfort, Imposter, Radio Graffiti, Shatners). DVJ has played SunFest OC on two occasions (2018 & 2019), fronting two different cover bands. With an energetic delivery and passion for the meaning behind the lyrics, her stage presence is 2nd to none. Younger years, she recorded backing vocals in California on various projects, moved to Maryland & took on the live scene in 2004. John Judge - Bass/Keys John has held down rhythm sections with drummer Bill Mojica for the past 20 years, in a number of Annapolis-area bands. JJ holds degrees in engineering & music, built a recording studio which served NYC venues in Greenwich Village (JJ presently resides in Annapolis). Fred Helms – Lead Guitar He is a proud US Air Force Veteran turned full time Musician and DJ. He began playing guitar at the age of 10. Fred has played out professionally since ’88 in multiple states from Maryland, the Florida Keys, to Maui, HI. Bill Mojica – Drums/Rhythm “Moj” is a 3rd-generation drummer. Acquired his first drum set at the age of four. He studied at the prestigious Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore and played in the concert band at school. He continues to be a student of the percussive world. Moj has been fortunate to work with a variety of talented groups over the years including Rhythm Method, Layers, The Jokers, Connections Band, and The Shatners Over the last three decades.
