Seminar on New Overtime and Classification Changes for Small Business Owners
Changes on how small businesses pay their employees in the form of new federal regulations regarding overtime pay and classification of workers will go into effect on December 1, 2016.
The Delaware Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), in partnership with the United States Department of Labor, will address these changes during a seminar "How Executive Order 13658 Will Change the Way You Pay Your Employees," on Wednesday, September 28 from 9 a.m. until 12 noon at the Delaware Biotechnology Institute in Newark. Registration is required along with a $25 fee.
The seminar will cover the following topics:
- How various laws (Fair Labor Standards Act, Davis Bacon Act and Service Contract Act) set standards for minimum wage, overtime, recordkeeping, fringe benefits, wage exemptions and determinations, and how this new regulation will change those standards;
- How the Overtime Final Rule Update will define and delimit the exemptions for Executive, Administrative, Professional, Outside Sales and Computer Employees under the Fair Labor Standards Act; and
