Teen Craft: Clay Luminaries at South Coastal Library
South Coastal Library will teach you how to mix colored clay and then roll it out to achieve a cool marbled look. Then, you'll use tiny clay cutters (like cookie cutters) to make openings in the clay, so it'll function as a luminary. You'll wrap the clay around a silicone mold, and when the edges are sealed, you'll take it home with instructions to bake it at low temp. in an ordinary oven. Once it's completely cool, you'll insert the fairy lights we gave you, and you'll have a beautiful luminary!
Free, for ages 13 - 17(Ages firm!) Registration recommended, but walk-ins accepted if space allows.
This program is designed to empower community members to tap into creativity, artistic literacy and expression, while also creating opportunity for positive social interaction, idea exchange and relaxation.
