
The Principles of Hip Hop: Celebrating 50 Years

The American art form of Hip Hop has a deeply rich history with roots that stretch across the globe. This show presents the multi-cultural story of Hip Hop's creation, the various art forms and dance styles birthed by the movement and how the arts have the power to change our world. Professional artists proficient in dance styles like popping, locking, KRUMP, breaking and of course Hip Hop will take the stage to showcase their dynamic styles alongside music from the '70s,'80s, '90s and today. Hip Hop Fundamentals will employ a host of activities including call & response, storytelling, audience participation and a live DJ to tell the story of Hip Hop's journey.

Location
Freeman Arts Pavilion – a program of the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation – is a champion of the arts on Delmarva, providing diverse arts performances as well as arts access programs for local schools and the community at large. From June-September the Freeman Arts Pavilion is an open-air performance space showcasing music, dance, comedy, theater, children's programs, and free events.
