Wizards & Witches Festival
Join us for the first Wizards & Witches Festival in Bethany Beach & the Quiet Resorts!
The Wizards & Witches Festival is a family-friendly weekend-long festival celebrating wizards, witches, magic, and creativity! Along with spreading the love of reading and encouraging screen-less family fun, this festival aims to celebrate local businesses & the "Shop Local" movement.
The Wizards & Witches Festival is hosted by Bethany Beach Books with support from the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce, Southern Delaware Tourism and many other local businesses located throughout the Quiet Resorts area.
Costumes are highly encouraged throughout the weekend!
Festival Activities
All festival activities take place in Downtown Bethany Beach with a few scavenger hunt locations in the surrounding Quiet Resorts area.
Friday, November 1
4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
| Welcome Party and Festival Pass pick-up Stop by Bethany Beach Books between 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. to pick up your Festival Pass and for some magical surprises! *Festival Pass pick-up is available on Saturday, too* |
6:00 p.m.
| Starry Night Hogwarts Pumpkin Paint Night at The Heidaway (Ticket required) Using our craft pumpkins, you will be instructed on how to create a Hogwarts pumpkin, complete with a Starry Night background. Upon arrival, you'll be sorted into your school house, enjoy themed games, some trivia, and ways to earn your house points throughout the event. Feel free to come in costume. Photo ops and special guest appearances can be expected! Themed cocktails, mocktails, and treats will be available for purchase, along with our full menu. Ticket price includes all supplies and this event is open to all ages. |
Saturday, November 2

| Festival Pass pick-up If you didn't have time to pick up your Festival Pass on Friday evening, passes can be picked up throughout the day on Saturday! |
10:00 a.m.
| Spooky Story Time with Ms. Lesley at Bethany Beach Books The infamous story-time-reader Ms. Lesley will be hosting a super fun, super spooky (but not scary!) story time. This story time is free but RSVP is required. Space is limited and it is open to all ages. |
11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
| Magical Witch & Wizard Scavenger Hunt "Do you solemnly swear that you are up to no good?" Try your luck at finding Witches, Wizards, and magical artifacts hiding in local businesses in Bethany Beach and throughout the Quiet Resorts area. If you are able to manage the mischief and complete the quest, you will be entered into a grand prize drawing. Costumes are highly encouraged! |
12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
| Magical Face-Painting at Bethany Beach Books Get in the spirit with some magical face-painting! Dragons, fairies and mermaids galore! Open to all ages. Available on a first-come, first-serve basis. |
7:00 p.m.
| Harry Potter Trivia at Bethany Beach Books (Ticket required) Are you a Potterhead? Test your skills at Harry Potter Trivia Night! Costumes are highly encouraged! Create a trivia team or come as a solo Witch or Wizard! This event is open to all ages. |

| Herbology Wizard Garden Activity at Bethany Beach Books (Ticket required) Create your very own Wizard garden to take home! Harry Potter-themed pots will be provided as well as plants, soil, and extra embellishments! |
12:30 p.m.
| Magical Wizard & Witch Scavenger Hunt Prize Drawing at Bethany Beach Books All Wizards & Witches who complete the scavenger hunt and return their map to Bethany Beach Books will be entered into an epic drawing to win some magical, Wizard & Witch-themed prizes! *Wizards & Witches must be present to win* |
Where To Stay
We encourage festival Wizards & Witches to make accommodations at the Bethany Beach Ocean Suites Residence Inn, which will be hosting numerous Wizard & Witch-themed events for hotel guests! The Bethany Beach Ocean Suites is located in Downtown Bethany Beach across from Bethany Beach Books, the Festival Headquarters.
Parking
Parking is free in Bethany Beach during the festival! Bethany Beach parking is free from September 16 - May 14
